       This page is meant to link you to other Web sites that contain useful information concerning the adoptee, birthmother, birthfather, adoptive parent, and others affected by an adoption seeking healing.

       The links are grouped into categories and may not be categorized as perfectly as possible.

National Organizations:

I strongly encourage you to join one or more national adoption organizations to support the efforts of the adoption reform movement. Your membership dues help support the adoption reform movement. The fees are minimal. Additionally, I strongly urge you to join a local adoption group to gain support and give support. We cannot live solely on the computer. Get out there and help others, as well as yourself.

Search and Support Groups:

Probably the best adoption searcher you will find for your situation will be one from the town and/or state where you were born and adopted. These people know what the current adoption laws are, and the tricks (legal) for searching in that area. It would also be good to belong to an adoption group where you live as well. Please, though, do not begin doing anything in a search until you talk with someone very familiar with the state involved. There are hundreds of small search groups. The following are links to other sites that try to list all of the groups.

Fee Paid Search Consultants:

If you can afford an adoption search consultant, then use one, but I believe personal searching is part of the healing process. I strongly urge against a Confidential Intermediary (aka CI), unless you have tried everything else. These people are not as successful at making contact as the person seeking a reunion. See my Adoption Reunion Research Project. Additionally, your typical private investigator does NOT have the foggiest idea how to do an adoption search. Several times I have followed behind a private investigator and had a searcher find the person they were looking for in a short time.

Know the laws affecting adoption, therefore the laws affecting your search, in your state!

Reunion Registries:

The only fee paid registry I can recommend is ALMA and "your" state's official registry, and those bother me. There are plenty of free registries out there so you shouldn't have to pay. The success rate of registries isn't high enough to spend money on them. You'll need money for other things in a search.

Black Market Adoptions and Stolen Babies:

As long as I have been around the adoption reform movement, I was shocked at the massive amount of black market, and stolen baby adoption stories. This is only a small list of some of those stories and sites. Several of them are on Geocities.com, so you get those annoying advertising banners. Be patient, and just close them. The information on the sites is worth the bother.

These are two of my most treasured items. The first was painted when an adoptee began considering a search, and the second was while she was searching.
